Shrestha Assumes Role of Chief Justice

Kathmandu: Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, who had been serving as the Acting Chief Justice, has officially taken on the position of Chief Justice (CJ) within the Supreme Court.

In accordance with Article 129 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, President Ram Chandra Paudel appointed Shrestha as the Chief Justice on Monday, based on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council.

Earlier in the day, the parliamentary hearing committee unanimously endorsed Shrestha's appointment as the Chief Justice, with no opposition.

Hailing from the Doti district of Sudurpaschim, Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha was born on October 16, 1959. His professional journey commenced in 1984 when he assumed the role of a Section Officer.
